How to Care for Your Soy Wax Candle
Caring for your soy wax candle properly helps ensure a clean, even, and long-lasting burn. Follow these simple tips to enjoy the best fragrance experience from your candle.
1. First Burn Matters
When lighting your candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the container. This helps prevent tunnelling and encourages an even burn every time you use it.
2. Trim the Wick
Before each use, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch. This helps control the flame, reduces soot, and supports a cleaner, more even burn.
3. Avoid Burning for Too Long
We recommend burning your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This helps prevent the container from overheating and helps extend the overall life of your candle.
4. Keep the Wax Pool Clean
Keep the melted wax free from wick trimmings, dust, matches, or any other debris. When the candle is not in use, cover it with the lid if provided.
5. Reposition the Wick if Needed
If the wick moves off-centre while burning, gently reposition it back to the centre using a non-flammable tool while the wax is still soft. Always do this carefully and never with your fingers.
6. Burn in a Draft-Free Area
Place your candle away from drafts, open windows, fans, or air conditioning. Drafts can cause uneven burning, flickering, soot, and a shorter burn time.
7. Store Properly
When not in use, store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. This helps preserve the fragrance and prevents the wax from softening, warping, or discolouring.
8. Stop Use When 1/2 Inch of Wax Remains
For safety, stop burning your candle when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Continuing to burn the candle beyond this point may cause the container to become too hot.
By following these care tips, you can enjoy a longer-lasting candle with a cleaner burn and a beautiful fragrance experience.
